Their lawyer, Honey Tan, said they exercised their right to silence during questioning under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Maria Chin said they were on police bail after what she described as more than just investigation, and that one month later it would be known whether they would be brought to court. She stated they must return to the Dang Wangi police station on May 29. She also said that if they are charged, they should be charged in court for exercising their rights. Police have been arresting opposition leaders and activists in relation to #KitaLawan rallies, including the arrest of Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad during a #KitaLawan sweep last month, which the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar defended by saying there would be no compromise against those causing public unrest.
