The Deputy National Unity Minister, Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, informed the Dewan Rakyat that the government does not intend to enact a new law to govern race relations. This stance is based on the assessment that current legal frameworks are sufficient to ensure the preservation of harmony between different races and religions within Malaysia.
Applicable Sections of the Penal Code

Individuals found to be intentionally disrupting unity and harmony can face investigation and prosecution under several sections of the Penal Code (Act 574). These include Section 504, Section 505, Section 506, and subsection 4(1) of the same Act, which address actions that can lead to disharmony, disunity, or foster feelings of enmity, hatred, or ill will.
Use of Communications and Multimedia Act

In addition to the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (Act 588) can also be applied in cases where actions negatively impact the preservation of harmony or unity. This provision is relevant for addressing communication-related offences that contribute to societal discord.
