Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay Retires at Age 66

Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay is retiring from the police force at the age of 66. His retirement took effect today, July 26, as he reaches his 66th birthday tomorrow. He has served as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIGP) for approximately three years, having been appointed to the role on June 23, 2023.
Handover of Duties as Deputy Inspector-General of Police

Ayob Khan formally handed over his duties as DIGP in a ceremony held at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol). Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail presided over the event. The responsibilities of deputy IGP were passed to Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus, who is currently the director of Bukit Aman’s Special Branch.
Acting Deputy Inspector-General Appointed

As the most senior director currently serving in the police force, Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus will assume the role of acting deputy IGP. He will continue to hold his existing position as the Special Branch director while also undertaking the duties of the acting DIGP.
Extensive Career in the Police Force

Ayob Khan's distinguished career spans 35 years, during which he held numerous significant positions. Prior to his appointment as DIGP, his previous roles included heading Bukit Aman’s Special Branch’s counter-terrorism division, serving as the Johor police chief, and directing Bukit Aman’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and Criminal Investigation Department.
