Mitigation Measures Underway for Critical Dams

To address the low water levels at critical dams like the Timah Tasoh Dam, several mitigation measures are being prepared. These include the installation of temporary pumps to transfer water to intake areas and the dredging of drains to improve water flow. These actions are intended to ensure that water treatment plants can continue to operate without disruption, even if raw water sources are diminished.
National Dam and WTP Monitoring Shows Mixed Levels

As of the latest report, monitoring of 43 dams across the country indicates that 35 are at normal levels, while four are at alert level, and two are at warning level. Two dams, the Timah Tasoh Dam in Perlis and the Lebam Dam in Johor, are currently at critical levels. Concurrently, all 117 major water treatment plants in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan are reported to be operating normally and meeting demand.
Preparedness for Super El Nino Continues

SPAN is enhancing its preparedness for the anticipated Super El Nino, expected to begin in November. The commission, through its Emergency and Risk Preparedness Committee (JKKR), is conducting site visits and continuous monitoring of dams and water treatment plants.
