Motorcyclists Account for Majority of Fatalities

Motorcyclists and pillion riders continued to be the most affected group, contributing to a significant portion of the recorded deaths. There were 94 fatalities involving motorcyclists and pillion riders during Op Selamat 20, an increase of nine deaths from the 85 recorded in Op Selamat 18/2022.
Common Causes of Fatal Accidents Identified

Negligence was identified as a primary cause of fatal accidents during the operation. Among the contributing factors, crashing on their own accounted for 44 cases, followed by entering the opposite lane with 20 cases, and fatigue or drowsiness also contributing to 20 cases.
