Prime Minister Najib Did Not Admit Receiving RM42 Million from SRC International

The legal team representing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has refuted reports suggesting that the Prime Minister admitted to receiving RM42 million from SRC International into his personal bank account. While a statement of reply in a defamation suit did acknowledge the deposit of RM42 million into an account through AmPrivate Banking, SRC International was not specified as the source, and the Prime Minister denied any wrongdoing.
Acknowledgement of Fund Deposit

In response to a defamation suit filed by Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, Najib's statement of reply admitted to "deposited funds amounting to RM42 million into the account of the plaintiff through AmPrivate Banking." However, his legal representative, Datuk Hafarizam Harun, clarified that this statement did not identify SRC International as the source of these funds.
Denial of Knowledge of Intermediaries

Najib's statement indicated that he had no knowledge that the RM42 million was channeled through two alleged intermediaries, Gandingan Mentari and Ihsan Perdana, as claimed by the defence. He asserted that he denied receiving money from others into his personal account in a wrongful manner.
Reservation of Right Pending Investigations

The Prime Minister reserved his right to provide further explanations regarding the RM42 million transfer, as well as a separate US$700 million transfer, pending ongoing investigations by various agencies. These include the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the police, Bank Negara Malaysia, and the Attorney-General's Chambers.
MACC's Stance on Large Transfers

Previously, the MACC had stated that the US$700 million transfer into Najib's personal account was a donation from unnamed Middle Eastern donors. Najib's statement emphasized his respect for the integrity of these ongoing investigations and pledged full cooperation with the legal process.
