Analyst's Role and Secondment

Adam Ariff Mohd Roslan's tenure involved a progression from an intern to an associate analyst at BNM's Financial Intelligence and Enforcement Department (FIED) in 2017. Subsequently, he was seconded to the 1MDB task force at MACC as an analyst. He later returned to BNM, being promoted to an analyst in 2019 and a managerial position in 2022. During his cross-examination, his physical presence at the MACC premises from 2018 onwards was highlighted as a point of contention regarding his impartiality.
Challenges to Analysis and Evidence

During the trial, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, representing Datuk Seri Najib Razak, repeatedly questioned the thoroughness of Ariff's analysis. His analysis detailing the transfer of RM2.28 billion of 1MDB funds in four distinct phases between 2011 and 2014 into Najib's AmIslamic bank accounts aligns with the prosecution's presented case. The prosecution's initial statements outlined multiple transactions and amounts, including over RM60 million in the first phase and over RM2 billion in the third phase, which Ariff's money trail corroborates.
