The Chief Statistician, Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin, noted that this performance was supported by positive growth across all sub-sectors of wholesale trade.
Retail Trade Sales Saw Moderate Growth

The retail trade sector registered sales of RM71.0 billion in April, an increase of 6.3% compared to the previous year. The volume of goods sold in retail trade grew by 3.9%. This segment's performance was notably supported by continued growth in non-specialised stores, such as hypermarkets and convenience stores, which saw a 6.1% increase in sales.
Motor Vehicles Sub-Sector Experienced Robust Growth

The motor vehicles sub-sector demonstrated strong performance, with sales increasing by 15.5% to RM20.4 billion. The volume of sales units for vehicles stood at 72,113, according to data from the Malaysian Automotive Association. Other related businesses, including vehicle parts and accessories, motorcycle sales and servicing, and vehicle maintenance and repair services, also posted gains.
