Flexibility in Vehicle Selection

Despite a previous Transport Ministry policy on April 23 that indicated new applications or replacements would be voluntary and limited to the Proton S70 taxi package, APAD has clarified that this restriction is not absolute. The agency stated that to assist applicants who already have existing vehicles or were unsuccessful in obtaining hire-purchase financing, drivers are still permitted to license or replace their vehicles with models other than the Proton S70. This adjustment aims to provide practical support to a wider group of taxi operators.
Continued Operation for Existing Taxis

Vehicles currently operating as taxis that are not replaced under the Teksi Madani programme are still allowed to continue their service. These taxis can operate until they reach their designated vehicle age limit, ensuring minimal disruption for drivers and the public. APAD is actively encouraging taxi drivers to switch to Teksi Madani to benefit from the various incentives offered. Additional Financial Support

Further bolstering support for taxi drivers, an additional RM10 million allocation has been announced for the Old Vehicle Replacement Matching Grant Programme. This comes in response to the positive reception of the initial RM10 million provided under Budget 2026 for the implementation of Teksi Madani. The increased funding underscores the government's commitment to facilitating the renewal and modernisation of the taxi fleet.
