As of the latest statements, the Royal Malaysia Police have not received any information from North Korea or its embassy in Malaysia regarding the seven individuals sought in connection with the killing of Kim Jong-nam. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed that no cooperation had been extended by the North Korean Embassy to aid the ongoing investigation.

Official Spokesperson Appointed by North Korea

While direct engagement with the police has not been forthcoming, North Korea's former ambassador to the United Nations, Ri Tong-il, arrived at the North Korean embassy and announced that he would serve as the official spokesperson for matters related to the murder. It was suggested that any official discussions with North Korean representatives might be more appropriately held with Wisma Putra, Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, rather than directly with the police.
