Many of Shereen's schoolmates held a limited and inaccurate view of the Orang Asli, often believing they lived in jungles akin to African tribes. This lack of knowledge contributed to her vulnerability as a target for bullying. She was subjected to discriminatory terms such as 'sakai' and 'jakuns', which were used to belittle her identity and way of life.
Impact on Orang Asli Students' Education

The persistent discrimination and bullying had a profound impact on the educational pursuits of Orang Asli students. Shereen recalled that out of an initial group of 20 Orang Asli students in her school, several stopped attending classes due to the constant harassment.
