The collision between the Immigration lorry and the Proton Saga at the Maju Junction intersection resulted in the lorry losing control and subsequently striking pedestrians and another vehicle. Reports indicate the lorry, travelling from the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Office towards Chow Kit, allegedly disregarded a red light at approximately 1 am. It then collided with a Proton Saga that was proceeding through the intersection on a green light.

This initial impact caused the Isuzu Black Maria Immigration lorry to careen out of control and skid. The out-of-control vehicle subsequently struck four pedestrians, who were identified as members of the same family, and also hit an Inokom Matrix multi-purpose vehicle. Tragically, three of the pedestrians, Shaik Mohd Firdaus Shaikh Yahya and his two daughters, Siti Nor Sazlin and Siti Darwisyah Auni, were killed at the scene. The mother, Norhayati Razali, sustained severe injuries and was reported to be in the Intensive Care Unit.

The family of the victims has called for a full and transparent investigation into the incident. They have expressed a desire for justice, with one family member stating they heard the lorry had run a red light. The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
