While overall only 34 per cent of those polled have filed income tax, the data clearly indicates that the challenges in understanding and adhering to tax regulations are concentrated at the lower end of the follower spectrum.

Despite the high prevalence of in-kind compensation, which accounts for 46 per cent of creators' income sources, overall tax filing remains a challenge. Only 34 per cent of all surveyed creators have filed income tax. Of the remaining 66 per cent, a notable 14 per cent explicitly stated they were unaware that content creators are required to file income tax, while the majority expressed uncertainty about their qualification for taxation.
