The Low Value Goods Tax (LVGT), implemented on January 1, 2024, imposes a 10 per cent sales tax on online purchases from overseas valued at RM500 or less. This measure is projected to generate RM200 million in revenue for the government in its first year. Currently, 52 companies have registered with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department for the LVGT.
