Rangsit University's Honorary Doctorate Recipients Include International Figures

Rangsit University (RUS) presented Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad with an honorary doctorate degree in social leadership, business, and politics. Dr Mahathir is the fourth prominent public figure to receive this honour from RUS. Previous recipients of the award include distinguished international leaders such as the late Princess Srinagarindra of Thailand, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan in 2009, and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan in 2016.
Award Presented at 34th Convocation

The honorary doctorate was conferred upon Dr Mahathir during Rangsit University's 34th convocation ceremony, held at its main campus in Mueang Pathum Thani District. Approximately 5,950 graduates were scheduled to receive their scrolls on the same day. The award ceremony itself was a traditional affair, with Dr Mahathir formally robed in a red and black velvet doctoral gown.
Distinguished Lineage of Recipients

Dr Mahathir's inclusion places him in esteemed company, following a pattern of the university recognising significant global figures. Prior to his award, the late Princess Srinagarindra, a revered figure in Thailand also known as Somdet Ya, was honoured. Subsequently, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan received the degree in 2009, followed by Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2016.
Spouse Accompanied Recipient

Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, wife of Dr Mahathir, also participated in the ceremony. She was granted the honour of wearing a blue and red velvet robe and accompanied her husband on stage as he accepted the honorary doctorate.
