The 'ER Soulier' Collection's Material Composition

The ‘ER Soulier’ sneakers are meticulously handcrafted in Portugal, utilising a range of reclaimed materials. These include components such as oyster shells, fishing nets, seafood shells, and green algae, all sourced from marine litter. To further enhance the sustainability of the design, the sneakers also incorporate leather scraps, natural cork, and recycled rubber, with nearly 80 per cent of the overall elements being recycled.
Addressing Marine Pollution Through Design

A substantial portion of ocean waste, estimated at approximately 50 per cent, originates from sea-based activities. Riconneaus's collection is a direct response to this environmental challenge, with the explicit goal of combating the pollution that affects seas and oceans. By transforming waste materials into desirable products, the designer intends to influence broader actions towards ocean conservation.
Collaboration and Product Availability

To facilitate the collection and processing of marine waste, Riconneaus is collaborating with a rehabilitation association. This partnership focuses on gathering and transforming waste specifically from the Bay of Biscay. The initial models of the ‘ER Soulier’ sneakers are available for pre-order through a crowdfunding campaign on Ulule, with prices starting at €99 (approximately RM460). The campaign is scheduled to conclude on June 18.
