Quarterly Payouts for STR

The primary enhancement to the STR assistance this year is its transition to quarterly payouts. Previously, the disbursement schedule might have varied, but the new framework ensures that STR funds are now disbursed on a quarterly basis. This more predictable payment schedule is intended to offer a steadier financial inflow for recipients.
Monthly Basic Aid Through SARA

Complementing the quarterly STR payments, the SARA programme now delivers monthly basic aid to qualifying individuals. This dual approach, combining regular STR disbursements with continuous SARA support, aims to provide a more comprehensive safety net. For instance, recipients can potentially receive up to RM3,300 by August 2026, by combining STR Phases 1 to 3 with the monthly SARA basic aid, excluding any one-off SARA payments.
Increased Recipient Numbers and Allocation

The revamping of the assistance programmes has coincided with an increase in the number of recipients and the total allocation. As of the Phase 3 disbursement, the STR programme now reaches 5.3 million recipients, an increase of 300,000 since the beginning of the year when it stood at five million. The allocation for Phase 3 alone is RM1.2 billion, contributing to a total disbursement of RM3.6 billion for the first three phases of 2026.
Continuous Application and Appeal Process

To ensure that assistance reaches those in need, the STR programme has kept its application and appeal channels open throughout the year.
