This suggests that despite advancements in AI, the strategic guidance and established relationships provided by financial experts remain paramount for Malaysian investors.
AI Adoption is High, But Human Oversight is Valued for Critical Functions

A considerable 85 per cent of Malaysian respondents report using AI for financial applications, placing the country among the top markets globally for AI adoption in this sector. However, this high usage does not translate to AI supplanting human expertise entirely. A substantial 76 per cent of respondents value the strategic expertise of financial professionals and institutions. Specifically, 31 per cent believe these human experts are crucial for identifying errors in AI-generated data, and another 31 per cent see them as important for providing personalised interpretations of complex financial information. Additionally, 30 per cent of respondents consider human professionals vital for applying judgment and validation to financial analyses.
A Hybrid Approach to Future Financial Decision-Making is Preferred

Looking ahead, the ideal framework for financial decision-making for a majority of Malaysian respondents involves a partnership between humans and AI. Fifty-eight per cent of those surveyed indicated a preference for this hybrid model, highlighting a recognition of the complementary strengths of both artificial intelligence and human expertise. This balanced approach allows investors to leverage the efficiency and data processing capabilities of AI while benefiting from the nuanced understanding, trust, and critical oversight that human professionals provide.
