The arrested suspects are believed to be part of a syndicate that commenced operations around mid-June. They allegedly used the LINE and Langmate applications to establish false identities to deceive their targets. The operation was identified as a call centre used for these fraudulent activities.

Intelligence gathered and information from seized computer equipment indicate that 19 Japanese nationals have fallen victim to this syndicate. Police are continuing their efforts to ascertain the full extent of victims and to identify the higher-ranking members of the network. During the raid, authorities confiscated 58 items, including 34 mobile phones and six laptops, with an estimated value of RM50,000.
