Streamlined Processing for Various Premises

The documentation process, technical evaluation, and approval period for licences concerning premises such as entertainment centres, factories, and kindergartens have been significantly shortened. Previously taking up to 32 working days, these applications are now processed within a maximum of 14 working days. This acceleration is facilitated by the shift from manual documentation and correspondence to online reviews and technical evaluations, often conducted after site visits.
Enhanced Efficiency Through Digitalisation

Reviews and technical evaluations, crucial steps in the licensing process, have been moved online. This digital transformation eliminates the need for extensive manual documentation and physical correspondence, thereby improving the overall efficiency of government services. KPKT is actively working with PBTs to ensure a more transparent and integrated management system for licence applications.
Support for Local Traders and Small Businesses

Beyond larger premises, KPKT is also facilitating business licence applications for local traders, including those operating from small stalls and roadside stalls. Initiatives include shortening the approval period for small business permits and, where necessary, relaxing existing conditions. Furthermore, efforts are underway to extend business hours and days, increase vending areas, and ensure that business licences and permits are issued and monitored exclusively for Malaysian citizens.
Standardisation with OSC PBT Licensing System

In 2024, KPKT introduced guidelines for the One Stop Centre (OSC) PBT Licensing system. This system aims to standardise processes, documentation, application procedures, and licence approvals across PBTs. For risk-free licences, such as those for retail shops, hawkers, and office businesses, these guidelines and the OSC system are designed to standardise the documentation process and approval period to within 24 hours. These guidelines are based on the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) and are being adopted first by PBTs in Peninsular Malaysia before being extended to Sabah and Sarawak.
