Ten excavators are now involved in the Batang Kali landslide SAR operation.

Two excavators from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) have been deployed to the Batang Kali landslide site, increasing the total number of heavy machinery involved in the search and rescue (SAR) efforts to ten. These units, specifically PC 210 LC-1OM tracked excavators from the Royal Army Engineers Regiment (RAJD), arrived on December 19.
MAF Deploys Heavy Machinery
Two excavators belonging to the Malaysian Armed Forces, identified as PC 210 LC-1OM heavy equipment from the Royal Army Engineers Regiment (RAJD), were brought to the Batang Kali landslide site on December 19. These machines are part of the RAJD's equipment, recently acquired under the 2021 Rolling Plan 3 Acquisition.
Increased Excavator Capacity
The arrival of these two MAF excavators brings the total number of excavators actively engaged in the SAR operations to ten. Previously, eight excavators were already assigned to sectors A and C of the disaster site, responsible for earthmoving and dredging tasks, albeit conducted in stages to ensure the safety of potential victims.
Enhanced SAR Resources
Beyond excavators, the SAR operation has been augmented with other advanced tools and personnel. The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) from the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (JUPEM) and the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) have been utilised for detecting bodies beneath the surface. Additionally, a team of 11 sniffer dogs, comprising units from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Royal Malaysian Police, and the MAF, are on standby to aid in the search.
