Proton to Produce Additional 60,000 Face Shields for Police and Armed Forces

Proton Holdings Bhd is set to produce an additional 60,000 face shields specifically for the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF). This initiative marks the second phase of production for these essential personal protective equipment (PPE) items. The completed production is anticipated to be ready for distribution by May 9.
Second Phase of Production Underway

The second phase of face shield production for the PDRM and MAF will commence on May 4. Proton's deputy chief executive officer, Datuk Radzaif Mohamed, confirmed that this effort is a continuation of their support for frontliners. The production benefits from the cooperation of Proton's parent company, DRB-HICOM.
Distribution to Frontliners

These 60,000 face shields are designated for Covid-19 frontliners, including members of the police and armed forces, as well as other essential services. This follows a successful first phase of production where an equal number of face shields were distributed.
Previous Distribution to Hospitals

In the initial phase of production, a total of 60,000 face shields were manufactured and subsequently distributed. These were sent to 46 hospitals across various states in Malaysia. The hospitals receiving these supplies were located in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor.
