Thirteen individuals are now charged in connection with Geng Upik.

Two additional individuals, Norsyafilah Pawawoi and Zulkahar Dusing, were charged today, bringing the total number of people facing charges related to the organized crime group "Geng Upik" to thirteen. These charges stem from activities believed to have occurred between 2015 and the previous year.
New Charges Filed Against Two Individuals

Norsyafilah Pawawoi, aged 28, and Zulkahar Dusing, aged 29, appeared in the Sessions Court and were formally charged with being members of an organized crime group. No plea was recorded from either accused. They were charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of five to twenty years in prison. Norsyafilah is currently serving a drug-related sentence since 2016, and Zulkahar has been detained since 2022 for similar offenses. The court has scheduled March 22 for the mention of their case, with no bail granted.
Previous Charges Brought Total to Eleven

Prior to today's proceedings, eleven individuals had already been charged on January 22 for their alleged involvement with "Geng Upik." These earlier accused include businessman Datuk Maslan Sani, 41, along with Rahman Burijin, 44; Jaisalfian Jaineh@Zaini, 45; Mohd Fauzie Rablin, 33; Shahlan Shah Abdul Samad, 37; Nelson Yen Yee Chung, 51; Mohd Faridzul Asmahadi, 31; Fazrul Bahar, 32; Alkan Abraham, 35; Mazlan Mahmud, 49; and Mahathir Jibarail, 49.
Legal Proceedings and Bail Applications

The cases for both the newly charged and previously charged individuals are progressing through the court system. The court has set March 22 as the date for the mention of the earlier group's case as well, with bail also denied. Notably, lawyers representing Nelson Yen Yee Chung have filed a motion in the High Court seeking bail for Yen pending the trial, either under court-set conditions or with the alternative of electronic monitoring.
