Assistance Channeled Through Various Agencies

The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with various agencies such as the Treasury Department and the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), plays a crucial role in processing applications and distributing aid. Initiatives like the BPN are specifically targeted at the B40 and M40 income groups, ensuring that financial support reaches those most in need.
Efforts Made to Reach Remote Areas

Recognising the logistical challenges in reaching all eligible recipients, particularly those in remote and physically inaccessible areas, the government has worked with numerous bodies. These include the Malaysian Armed Forces, Rela, the Royal Malaysia Police, and various state and federal offices, to ensure aid is channelled expeditiously and precisely.
Integrated Aid Disbursement Exercises Conducted

To overcome the challenges of fund distribution and data accuracy, integrated aid disbursement exercises were conducted in both states. For instance, from July 1 to August 10, 2020, the Sabah treasury department, IRB, and district offices facilitated aid distribution in 13 remote districts for 2,845 recipients without bank accounts. Similarly, in Sarawak, state treasury staff travelled to 30 remote locations between July 1 and 30 to present BPN and BSH assistance to 41,995 recipients who lacked bank accounts.
