Expansion to Expedite Cross-Border Travel

The plan involves adding approximately 40 new counters to the existing facilities. This measure is a direct response to the projected surge in daily travellers once international borders are fully operational. The ministry anticipates that between 400,000 and 500,000 individuals could be using the CIQ complex each day under such circumstances.
Implementation of the National Integrated Immigration System

Alongside the physical expansion of counters, a new technological system, the National Integrated Immigration System (NIIIS), is slated to replace the current Malaysian Immigration System (MyIMMs). This upgrade is expected to be implemented in 2023 and will incorporate advanced features such as biometric capabilities and a facial recognition system to enhance efficiency and security.
Supporting Infrastructure for Travellers

In addition to immigration infrastructure, the Johor government is actively supporting cross-border commuters. Free bus services are being provided for pedestrians travelling under the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) schemes. These schemes facilitate essential business, official purposes, and commuting for residents with long-term passes between Malaysia and Singapore.
