Over 10,000 Tioman Residents to Benefit from New Water Projects

More than 10,000 residents in the Tioman state constituency are set to benefit from seven clean water supply projects allocated RM103.8 million by the Pahang government. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to address water supply challenges across the state, with a goal to resolve 90% of Pahang's clean water issues within five years. The state government has demonstrated its commitment through a significant RM2.3 billion allocation for water supply purposes.
Two Projects Already Completed

Two of the seven planned projects have already been finished, aiming to improve water pressure and supply. The Sepayang Water Treatment Plant (LRA) was completed last month and is designed to increase water pressure. Additionally, a treated water supply project in Kampung Merlak was concluded in April, providing essential water access to its residents.
Five Projects in Pre-Construction Phase

The remaining five projects are currently in the pre-construction phase, with implementation expected to span until 2025. These include the development of the Sepayang Phase Two LRA, the construction of a pump house and suction tank in Tanjung Gemuk, and significant pipe installation work. The pipe installations will connect the Selendang LRA to the Parit Raja service tank and span across Sungai Anak Endau. A crucial rural water supply project for Kampung Tekek on Tioman Island is also part of this phase.
Projects Managed by PAIP and Timeline

All these water supply initiatives are being managed by Pengurusan Air Pahang Berhad (PAIP). The completion timeline for these projects is staggered, with scheduled finishes ranging from December 2023 to 2025, ensuring a phased approach to enhancing water infrastructure in the Tioman constituency.
