Circumstances of the Incident

The boat departed from the Sungai Kajang fishermen’s jetty around 3 pm on Thursday, carrying the group for a ritual involving the sprinkling of ashes at sea. The vessel began to take on water and subsequently sank approximately two hours later as it was making its way back to land following the ceremony.
