Direct Government Loans and Advances

Between April 2017 and May 2022, the government channeled a total of RM10.85 billion to address 1MDB's financial liabilities. These funds were specifically allocated to meet the debt commitments and interest that 1MDB was obligated to pay, thereby alleviating immediate financial pressure on the company.
Utilisation of Asset Recovery Funds

In addition to direct government aid, the interest payments on 1MDB's debt have also been financed using funds recovered from the company's assets. These recovered funds are held in the Asset Recovery Trust Account, managed under the Ministry of Finance. As of June 30, 2022, RM19.28 billion in 1MDB assets had been recovered.
Repayment of Debt with Recovered Funds
