It will support hospitals managed by the Health Ministry, as well as teaching hospitals affiliated with public universities such as Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Additionally, field hospitals operated by the Armed Forces (ATM) will also benefit, with specific attention given to facilities in Sabah and Sarawak, regions that have faced significant challenges during the pandemic.

Beyond direct treatment capacity, an additional RM550 million from the Pemerkasa Plus programme is allocated to cover increased operational and management expenses related to the ongoing health crisis. The service of over 14,000 existing contract medical officers and nurses will be extended until 2022, and more than 500 healthcare personnel reaching compulsory retirement this year will be reappointed on contract to maintain workforce stability.
