President Raisi officially opened the last phase of the South Pars gas field, which is Iran's largest and one of the world's biggest natural gas condensate fields. The field is jointly owned by Iran and Qatar, with Iran having 24 platforms on its side. Development of the field in the Persian Gulf has been ongoing since the 1990s.
Projected Daily Gas Extraction

According to Oil Minister Javad Owji, the daily extraction rate from phase 11 of the South Pars project is projected to reach around 50 million cubic metres once the wells are fully operational. This announcement was made during a ceremony in the southern port city of Asalouyeh, which was broadcast live on state television.
Challenges in Development

President Raisi noted that foreign companies, including the French energy giant Total, had not fulfilled their contractual obligations for the completion of phase 11. This led to Iranian experts taking over the responsibility for finishing the development work. Total had initially been part of a deal worth US$4.8 billion to develop phase 11 alongside China's National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and an Iranian firm, a plan that was impacted by the reimposition of US sanctions.
