The Ayoi Gombak Gang Allegedly Earned RM50,000 to RM60,000 Monthly

Two individuals identified as members of the Ayoi Gombak Gang were apprehended in Gombak on January 26. These suspects are believed to be implicated in approximately 300 jewellery snatch theft incidents that have occurred since the beginning of 2018. The gang is alleged to have generated a monthly income ranging from RM50,000 to RM60,000 from their criminal activities.
Seized Assets and Criminal Investigations

During the operation, law enforcement officials confiscated vehicles valued at RM280,000, including a Honda FD and a Toyota Vellfire. Additionally, four motorcycles, suspected of being used in the commission of the thefts, were also seized. The arrested suspects are currently being held under a remand order issued in accordance with Section 4(1)(a) of the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) 1959. Further investigations are proceeding under the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2001.
Methods to Conceal Illicit Gains

To obscure their involvement in criminal enterprises, the suspects reportedly operated legitimate businesses as fronts. One individual managed a food business, while the other ran a vape shop. These ventures are believed to have been funded, in part, by the proceeds derived from the jewellery snatch thefts, serving as a means to disguise the origin of their wealth.
Disposal of Stolen Goods

The jewellery obtained through these thefts was allegedly sold to a local man known as Angah, identified as Zul Hafiz Rosli. Angah reportedly purchased the stolen gold at a rate of RM190 per gram and is believed to have subsequently melted the jewellery. Police are actively seeking Angah, along with another individual named Babie (Noorazizuddin Ahmad), to aid in their ongoing investigation.
