The power outage was attributed to a fault in equipment at the Main Entrance Substation (PMU) Yong Peng Utara in Yong Peng, Johor. This specific transmission cable is a significant component of the national grid, accounting for a substantial portion of the country's electricity distribution.
Restoration Efforts Underway

TNB's technical teams were actively engaged in restoring power following the incident. Electricity supply was returned to several areas outside the Klang Valley, including Petaling Jaya, Cheras, and Bangi, within 20 to 40 minutes. However, areas within the Klang Valley experienced longer restoration times.
Timely Rectification Achieved

The issue was fully rectified by 3:02pm on the day of the incident. While most affected areas saw supply reinstated in stages relatively quickly, the comprehensive repair of the national transmission cable was a priority to ensure stable power distribution across the peninsula.
