Initially, the special allowance was provided to doctors, nurses, and ambulance drivers. However, the ministry is considering including other groups, such as physiotherapists involved in long Covid treatment, provided they meet the stipulated criteria. The government had previously increased this allowance from RM400 to RM600 per month for medical staff directly involved in Covid-19 containment efforts.
Conditions for Receiving the Allowance

A key condition for receiving the special allowance is that workers must be vaccinated against Covid-19, in addition to meeting other requirements like a minimum number of working days. Nevertheless, staff unable to receive the vaccine due to documented health issues may still be eligible for the allowance.
