Increased Passenger Carrying Ability

The introduction of 27 four-coach train sets will significantly augment the passenger-carrying capacity of the Kelana Jaya LRT line. Each four-coach train is capable of transporting over 900 passengers, a substantial increase compared to the current two-coach trains which can carry more than 200 passengers. This upgrade means that the existing fleet, which comprises 84 trains including 35 two-coach units, will be augmented by units with more than four times the capacity of the smaller trains, directly addressing the needs of the over 300,000 daily commuters.

Two of the 27 four-coach train sets have already been acquired and are currently undergoing the mantling process at Westport, Port Klang. The remaining train sets are scheduled to arrive progressively, with the full fleet expected to be in service by 2023.
