Installation Assistance Available

Beyond financial incentives, MBPP has also committed to providing practical assistance for the installation of chillers. The council stated that it can offer installation support to traders who require help, ensuring that logistical challenges do not prevent sellers from meeting the new food safety standards. High Seller Agreement Rate

As of the announcement, a significant majority of poultry sellers on the island have already agreed to install chillers. Approximately 114 sellers, representing about 64.4 per cent of the total, have committed to this measure. Poultry Distribution Centre Operations

In conjunction with the chiller initiative, the poultry distribution centre in Batu Lanchang is also nearing operational readiness. The centre has been physically completed and is slated to commence operations in March. However, it is important to note that sellers are not mandated to source their poultry exclusively from this centre; it serves as an additional alternative supply option. The halal certification of poultry from this centre has been confirmed following discussions with representatives from the Penang Islamic Affairs Department.
