Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said MOE is constructing 2,596 new classrooms using the IBS modular method across 838 schools. He added that the projects are expected to be completed this year, aligning school infrastructure with the higher 2027 registration figures.

Wong stated that MOE will recruit 3,150 contract of service (COS) teachers based on current registration figures. Wong said parents are given the option to decide their child’s readiness, either to join the six-year-old cohort or remain in the seven-year-old cohort. He added that MOE will make full use of the Year One transition programme to support pupils’ adjustment, and that the 2027 school curriculum implemented next year will be tailored to pupils’ developmental levels and needs.
