Repeat offenders face more severe consequences, with potential fines up to S$2,000 or imprisonment for up to 12 months. The offence also carries 12 demerit points, with increased penalties for violations occurring in school zones, silver zones, and Friendly Streets, underscoring the government's commitment to road safety.
