Grab's existing free, fixed-route shuttles will continue to operate alongside the new on-demand service.
Direct Routing Capabilities

Unlike the current shuttle system, which follows predetermined paths, the on-demand AV service will enable passengers to select their preferred pick-up and drop-off locations from a list of existing points. The vehicles will then navigate the most direct route between these chosen locations. This feature directly addresses the preferences of approximately 40 per cent of Punggol residents surveyed, who indicated a desire for more direct travel options.
Enhanced Connectivity to Amenities

The introduction of the on-demand service is expected to significantly improve connectivity between residential areas and essential amenities. This includes better links to facilities such as clinics, markets, and schools, as well as the Punggol Coast MRT station. This enhancement aims to make daily commutes and access to services more efficient for residents.
Passenger Choice and Feedback Integration

A key driver for the development of the on-demand service is the feedback received from Punggol residents. Nearly 60 per cent of the approximately 270 residents surveyed expressed a need for more choices regarding their boarding and alighting points. The on-demand model directly incorporates this preference, offering passengers more control over their travel experience.
Service Rollout and Fare Structure

The on-demand AV service will initially be available to trial users before a wider public launch in the fourth quarter of 2026. Commercial fares will be implemented from this point onwards. This phased approach allows for testing and refinement before full commercial operation.
