UEM Edgenta Bhd has stated that its subsidiary, Edgenta Propel Bhd (EPB), will robustly defend itself against a civil suit filed by Ahmad Zaki Sdn Bhd (AZSB) concerning sub-contract work for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit's Putrajaya Line (MRT2) project. EPB, after consulting with its legal counsel, Messrs Zul Rafique & Partners, believes the claim is entirely without merit.
Allegations of Contractual Breach

Ahmad Zaki Sdn Bhd, represented by Messrs. Harold & Lam Partnership, has initiated a civil suit alleging that EPB breached the express and/or implied terms of a contract. This contract, valued at RM87 million excluding GST, was for Protection & Relocation of Utilities, specifically the relocation of telecommunications works, undertaken in 2016 for the MRT2 project.
EPB's Stance on Merit

EPB, after seeking legal advice, has concluded that AZSB's suit lacks foundation. The company has indicated its intention to present a strong defence against the claims of improper work planning and resources allocation, as well as other allegations made by AZSB.
Legal Proceedings Underway

EPB was served with a writ and statement of claim on Monday. The civil suit has been scheduled for case management on April 27, which will be conducted via e-review before the High Court Deputy Registrar. This procedural step will allow the court to oversee the progress of the legal proceedings.
