Eligibility criteria for public invigilators

To be considered, applicants must be Malaysian citizens between 18 and 65 years old. A minimum qualification of SPM or an equivalent recognised by the government is required. Furthermore, candidates must have a clean record, with no criminal convictions or ongoing court cases. The ability to provide their own transportation is also a prerequisite for all applicants.
Diverse categories for volunteer applicants

The MOE has established five distinct categories for public applicants to cater to a wide range of individuals. These include retired government employees, particularly those from the Education Service Officer scheme. Students from higher education institutions, teacher training institutes, and those with foundation or matriculation qualifications are also encouraged to apply.
Additional applicant groups

The volunteer pool also extends to teachers working in state government religious secondary schools, private schools, and MARA Junior Science Colleges. Government contract workers and contractual employees form another category. Finally, the ministry welcomes applications from non-government employees and retired individuals from both government and private sectors, broadening the scope of participation.
Broader initiative to support educators

This move to recruit public invigilators is part of a larger effort by the MOE to reduce the workload of teachers. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek announced on February 17 that this invigilator recruitment is one of seven measures being implemented. The overarching goal is to streamline examination processes and allow teachers to focus more on instructional duties.
