Nai’mah Abdul Khalid stated that her husband is ready to confront any legal accusations from his hospital bed and will vigorously defend himself. She expressed that the family and their legal representatives were not previously informed of any charges being prepared against Daim, only that a statement was to be recorded. The insinuation that Daim is evading charges by being hospitalised, she claims, is false and malicious, particularly noting the disparaging remarks allegedly made against the medical professionals.

Azam Baki further stated that Daim is expected to face at least one charge related to failing to declare several properties owned by himself and his wife. The MACC chief mentioned that the commission could have sought a judge to attend the hospital to formally charge the former minister, but this would be considered a last resort. The MACC has been unable to ascertain the specific reasons for Daim's hospitalisation, as the treating doctor has not disclosed his medical condition.
