AmBank records confirm that Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was in Milan, Italy, on November 7, 2014, when a payment was made for his Mastercard. The defence has suggested that this payment, and potentially another cheque dated November 6, 2014, for his credit card bills, may have been handled by his personal assistant, Major Mazlina, as Zahid was abroad on both occasions.
Payment Made While Zahid Was Abroad

AmBank senior vice-president Yeoh Eng Leong confirmed from transaction records that Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was in Milan on November 7, 2014. On this date, a payment of RM18,002.82 was made towards Zahid's Mastercard. The defence lawyer proposed that this payment might not have been personally made by Zahid, but rather by his personal assistant, Major Mazlina.
Questionable Cheque Signatures

The defence also raised questions about the authenticity of signatures on cheques used to pay credit card bills. It was indicated that 25 out of 32 cheques sent to the Department of Chemistry Malaysia bore stamped signatures rather than handwritten ones. These 25 cheques, totalling RM697,542.06 based on calculations, were paid to AmBank for credit card bills belonging to Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his wife, Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis.
Defence Suggests Personal Assistant's Involvement

The defence lawyer further suggested that Major Mazlina may have been responsible for stamping these cheques for payment purposes. When questioned, Yeoh Eng Leong stated he had no knowledge of whether Major Mazlina had stamped these cheques or if Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was aware of such actions.
Awareness of Funds and Payment Issues

Yeoh Eng Leong also testified that he was unaware if Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi possessed sufficient funds in his personal account to settle his credit card statements between January 2014 and July 2016 without relying on the 25 cheques in question. He also could not recall if any temporary suspensions were made on Zahid's credit cards due to late payments, although he confirmed that payments were sometimes late and incurred late charges.
