Driver Lost Control of Vehicle

The driver, a 56-year-old man, is believed to have lost control of the Proton Saga. This loss of control led to the vehicle colliding with the road divider. Following the impact with the divider, the car subsequently landed in a drain on the left side of the road.
Immediate Fire After Impact

Immediately after the car landed in the drain, it burst into flames. The fire consumed the vehicle, resulting in the deaths of four of the five occupants. The intensity and speed of the fire contributed to the fatalities.
Victims Identified as Contract Workers

The four deceased victims, identified by their ages as 56 (the driver), 50 (front passenger), 45, and 53 (rear passengers), were all contract workers at the Royal Malaysian Navy Base in Lumut. They were travelling home to Ipoh at the time of the accident. One survivor, identified as Shariff Mohammed Sidek Mohammed, 34, was extricated from the vehicle.
