Donysius Gabriel Goh, a 36-year-old personnel from the Malaysian Survey and Mapping Department (JUPEM), tragically lost his life on March 17 this year while on duty at the Malaysia–Brunei border. He was serving as an H1 General Services Assistant at the Miri Regional Topography Office in Sarawak.
Drowning during border survey

Goh went missing after being swept away by strong river currents while his team was crossing a river in the Ulu Temburong area, Lawas. The incident occurred during a border survey operation, where he was accompanied by five colleagues.
Body recovered after search

A search and rescue operation was launched following his disappearance. His body was eventually found by the search team on March 25, approximately 500 metres from the location where he was last seen.
Posthumous award for bravery

In recognition of his service and contributions, Goh was posthumously awarded the Bintang Jasa Perkasa Persekutuan (JPP). This award, given for extraordinary bravery and courage outside the battlefield, made him the sole recipient of the JPP in the 2026 federal awards list. As a posthumous recipient, his next of kin are entitled to a lump sum of RM10,000.
