Alternative Clearance Methods Available

In the event of any disruption to the digital clearance system, passengers on the RTS Link can still proceed with their travel by using their regular passports for immigration checks. The QR code system, accessible through a digital platform, is offered as an alternative option for travellers, but it is not the sole method of clearance at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex at the Bukit Chagar RTS Link station.
Agency Oversight and Manpower Deployment

The Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) and the Immigration Department are responsible for establishing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to border control. This includes defining the measures to be enacted should the digital system experience a failure. A total of 640 officers and personnel from the AKPS will be stationed at the CIQ Complex in Bukit Chagar to manage operations.
Preparedness for System Disruptions

Sufficient manpower is allocated to mitigate circumstances such as disruptions to the e-gate system. The AKPS director-general has indicated that personnel are available to handle such situations, and given the proximity to the Bukit Sentosa Immigration Complex (BSI), assistance can be readily obtained if needed. Over 400 AKPS officers and personnel are currently undergoing training and are scheduled to report for duty from October, followed by an orientation and simulation programme until December.
