A behavioural vet says macaques do not feel sexual desire for humans.

Emmanuelle Titeux said “not at all” when asked whether Barbary macaques could be sexually attracted to humans. She said the animals were more likely reacting to a bikini top as a bright or patterned toy, not showing sexual intent.
The macaques were described as wild and unpredictable
Titeux said Barbary macaques can mix easily with people, but they remain wild animals. She said they are not generally aggressive and usually attack only if they sense danger.
Their behaviour was framed as opportunistic, not sexual
She described the monkeys as opportunistic thieves, saying they may grab things when they can. In this case, she said the bikini top could have looked like a fun object to play with.
Human body parts are not “intimate” to monkeys
Titeux said what humans call intimate areas are not intimate to monkeys. She added that the woman’s breasts, which were not normally on display, would likely have drawn curiosity rather than sexual interest.
The timing did not fit sexual frustration
She also said the macaques’ mating season does not begin until the winter months. On that basis, she ruled out sexual frustration as an explanation for the incident.
