Wholesale trade sales reached RM80.8 billion in May 2026, up RM12.6 billion or 18.4% year-on-year, with DOSM pointing to growth led by the “other specialised wholesale” group. That group recorded sales of RM35 billion, rising 42.6% year-on-year, while overall performance was also supported by higher sales of petrol, diesel and lubricants, and liquefied petroleum gas, driven by higher market prices.

DOSM said the wholesale trade sub-sector’s growth was mainly driven by the “other specialised wholesale” group. Sales in that group reached RM35 billion and increased 42.6% year-on-year, accounting for a large part of the overall 18.4% rise in wholesale trade sales.
Fuel and LPG sales rose with higher market prices

Food, household goods, and agricultural raw materials also expanded
Wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco grew 5%, supported by higher sales of rice, other grains, flour and sugar, dairy products, fish and other seafood. Wholesale of household goods expanded 3.5% to RM15.2 billion, driven by growth in pharmaceutical and medical goods, jewellery and clothing, while wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals rose 7.3% to RM6.7 billion, mainly due to stronger demand for palm oil.
