Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam, who holds the positions of Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, Kundasang assemblyman, and Sabah Industrial Development Minister, is one of six individuals to receive the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK). This award is the highest state honour in Sabah and confers the title of Datuk Seri Panglima.

In addition to Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam, the SPDK award recipients include Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, Sabah state legislative assembly speaker Datuk Kadzim M Yahya, former Kota Kinabalu mayor Datuk Iliyas Ibrahim, former Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Mohammad Noor Mohammad Mansoor, and businessman Datuk Seri Lim Haw Kuang.

The report also details recipients of other state honours. Deputy Finance Minister Yamani Hafez Musa is among the 81 recipients of the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK), which carries the title Datuk.
