Nationwide Covid-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centres (PKRC) have reached 60 per cent of their operational capacity. The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) is monitoring the situation closely and has contingency plans in place should patient numbers continue to increase.
Current Capacity Utilisation

The current utilisation rate for PKRCs across Malaysia stands at 60 per cent. This figure indicates a significant occupancy, prompting Nadma to prepare for potential escalations in patient numbers.
Contingency Planning for Increased Capacity

Should the number of patients at PKRCs continue to rise, Nadma, under director-general Datuk Aminuddin Hassim, has outlined several alternative options. These plans are designed to ensure sufficient facilities are available to manage patient care effectively.
Focus on High-Density Areas and Alternative Facilities

Special attention will be directed towards areas with high population density, including Johor Baru and the Klang Valley, which are expected to experience greater demand. Nadma aims to maintain a 20 per cent buffer space at all existing PKRCs. If any centre reaches 80 per cent capacity, Nadma will explore the possibility of utilising 360 public training institutes across Malaysia as additional quarantine facilities. These institutes are considered viable due to their potential for rapid mobilisation.
