As of yesterday, a significant majority of eligible Sarawakians aged 18 and above have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with the state reporting high completion rates for the full vaccination course. The Sarawak government is now preparing to extend vaccination efforts to younger age groups.
First Dose Coverage

A total of 1,869,360 individuals, representing 91 per cent of the eligible population aged 18 and above in Sarawak, had received their first dose of the vaccine. This figure accounts for a substantial portion of the 2,066,000 eligible residents in this age bracket.
Second Dose Completion

The vaccination programme has also seen strong uptake for the second dose. Among those aged 18 and above, 1,821,499 individuals, or 88.2 per cent of the eligible population, have completed their full vaccination course.
Readiness for Younger Age Groups

Following the success in inoculating the adult population, the state government has announced its readiness to commence vaccination for individuals aged 12 to 17. This initiative for the approximately 289,200 individuals in this younger demographic will be overseen by the Ministry of Health and the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.
